On Saturday 31st May, exactly one-hundred years since its premiere, there will be a collective reading & performance of Berta Lask’s 1925 play Thomas Müntzer: Dramatic depiction of the German Peasants’ War of 1525. In the play, the slain leader of the peasant war, Thomas Müntzer, wakes up every hundred years to address the contemporary situation.
12:00 - Assemble for prop making and preparation.
14:00 - Performance and reading will begin, both inside MIF and on the Mustikamaa if weather allows.
The performance will be led by the play’s translator Sam Dolbear (resident in Helsinki for a month) via the text available for free published by Rab-Rab Press https://www.rabrab.net/titles/muntzer
No professional expertise is necessary and spectatorship is also very much welcome!
