Feeding Title: a Shared Menu

Food may very well be one of the universal components flowing through the veins of every society. The act of eating is our cord to the prosperities of the soil, a lifeline vital in ensuring our survival, a bare necessity at times, and an indulgence of pleasure at best. Every meal isa circular concession of living and dying, a testament to care, an archive of its history - of struggles, exclusion, and a promise of hope.

Food and Feeding carried prominent roles throughout art history and continue to do so in contemporary art practices, often embedded into a sociocritical, collaborative context. In this project, 'feeding' is viewed as a process of coming together. It holds the opportunity to create discourse and embrace the unfinished whilst sharing a meal.

Feeding Title is a two-part collective journey.

Every dish will tell one bite-sized tale of the many possible histories of food. Throughout the evening, those fed are encouraged to share their experiments, working titles, unfinished projects and creative processes. After all, Feeding Title, at its core, is space and time to come together - a chance to discuss, share and evolve ideas over a (warm) meal.

The concept borrows its structure from the rigorously ordered twelve-course menu predominant in haute cuisine - one of the most elitarian and excluding forms of 'feeding'. Feeding Title conceives the single courses as fragments, randomly combining three each to lead through the separate evenings. Together we detach these fragments from their strict corset and are re-embedding them in contexts of shared critical reflection - attempting to collectively juxtapose the systematics they imply.

The project stretches twelve courses over four independent evenings. Each evening can host a total of twelve people. All meals will be museum-made and vegetarian.

About Felix Siegl:

Felix is a Vienna-based interdisciplinary artist, artistic researcher and aspiring curator. His works often focus on discovering different materialities in their existences within their domain - and the shapes they take up in relation to the human realms. His practice is rooted in investigative research, discourse analysis, and as of recently, speculative (fiction-)futures. He views making as site-time specific and collaborative - believing in co-creating out of the need to react to the Contemporary from more than one preset.
